17th Annual Business Leaders for Early Education Breakfast Hosted by Women

In February, 2022 we celebrated our 17th Annual Women United’s Business Breakfast promoting the importance of early childhood education with our business community and also celebrated our two Literacy Champion award winners. Women United spearheads this event each year as they utilize their combined financial power and collective talents of local philanthropic women leaders to address early childhood literacy in our community. Children who read proficiently by the end of third grade are more likely to succeed academically and graduate from high school prepared for college and careers. 1 in 4 children in Pima County are not reaching this crucial benchmark.

Literacy Champion Awards

Literacy Champion Award

A component of our annual Business Leaders Breakfast for Early Education, the Literacy Champion Awards celebrate our local heroes, our teachers. A Literacy Champion is a local classroom educator who has gone above and beyond to improve literacy in our community. Now in its 6th year, The Literacy Champion Award is presented to two early childhood educators teaching in preschool through 3rd grade. Congratulations to our 2022 winners, Wendy Goodman, and Christina Baker!

Congratulations to our 2022 winners:

  • Wendy Goodman, Cragin Elementary School, Preschool
  • Christina Baker, Roadrunner Elementary School, 1st Grade
