UNITED WAY OF TUCSON AND SOUTHERN ARIZONA

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service 2023

United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona was proud to present their first annual MLK Day of Service. While Martin Luther King, Jr. Day became a federal holiday in 1983, it wasn’t until 1994 that it became a National Day of Service. To this day, it is the only federal holiday that is designated as a National Day of Service. MLK Day is used as a day of service to continue Dr. King’s legacy of achieving a Beloved Community. Please join us in honoring Dr. King by volunteering to help us all build a better community.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed on the third Monday of January. Join us as we continue his vision toward building a better community for all.

MLK Day of Service 2023 Recap

It is in this spirit that the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona celebrated and participated in our first annual MLK Day of Service on January 16th, 2023. The chilly rain that started the day did not dampen the spirits of the amazing community members who selflessly donated their time. While the outdoor events were postponed in favor of a sunnier day, 36 volunteers donated their time at our United Way offices–either coloring bookmarks for the My Summer Library program or putting together supply kits for local Opportunity Youth!

Unable to volunteer? Please consider donating.

Through our direct services, programming, partnerships, grant funding, and volunteers every $1 invested multiplies into a $5 impact. Our 100 years in Tucson and Southern Arizona has shown us that when we live united, we can achieve more than any single entity can alone because we’re Stronger UNITED.
